Setting up Local Delivery

Offer Trexity through Shopify Local Delivery with zone-based pricing.

If your Shopify plan doesn’t include carrier-calculated rates (or you simply prefer zone-based pricing), you can still offer Trexity through Shopify Local Delivery. Shopify handles zones and the price the customer pays; Trexity handles the actual courier dispatch behind the scenes.

This is the path most stores below Shopify’s Grow plan use.

When you need this

You need this if:

  • Your store is on a Shopify plan below Grow (no third-party carrier rates).
  • Or: you have Grow+ but prefer flat, zone-based pricing instead of live carrier quotes.

You don’t need this if:

  • You’re on Shopify Grow / Advanced / Plus and want live, dynamic quotes from Trexity at checkout. (That’s the default — see the setup checklist; nothing extra to do.)

What the customer sees

The shipping option at checkout uses Shopify’s label and price (e.g. “Local Delivery — $9.99”). Trexity is invisible at checkout. When the order is paid, Trexity creates the delivery in the background and dispatches a courier.

Setting it up

1. Configure Shopify Local Delivery

This part happens in Shopify, not in the Trexity app:

  1. Shopify Admin → Settings → Shipping and delivery → Local delivery.
  2. Pick the location that will fulfill local-delivery orders.
  3. Define your delivery area (radius from the store, or postal-code list).
  4. Set the price customers pay (free, flat fee, or conditional on order value).
  5. Save.

2. Tell Trexity how to fulfill it

In the Trexity app:

  1. App → Settings → Locations → [pick the location].
  2. Find the Local Delivery preference option.
  3. Pick whether Local Delivery orders should be fulfilled as same-day or next-day by Trexity.
  4. Save.

If your preferred speed isn’t available on a given day (e.g. it’s after cutoff for same-day), Trexity automatically falls back to the next available speed.

What the merchant pays vs what the customer pays

  • The customer pays whatever you set in Shopify Local Delivery. That’s it.
  • Trexity bills you the actual delivery cost (distance + service level) when the delivery is fulfilled.

This means Local Delivery can be a subsidized rate: charge the customer a flat $5, even if the actual delivery costs you more or less.

Running both at the same time

You can have both Shopify Local Delivery and live Trexity rates on the same store, on the same checkout. They show up as separate options:

  • “Local Delivery — $5.00” (Shopify-set price, Trexity fulfills)
  • “Same Day Delivery — $12.50” (Trexity-set price, live quote)

The customer picks the one they prefer.

Common questions

“Why is Local Delivery showing for an address my store can’t service?” Local Delivery zones are defined in Shopify (not Trexity). If the zone is too big, the customer sees the option even if Trexity won’t be able to fulfill. Tighten the zone in Shopify → Settings → Shipping and delivery → Local delivery.

“Will disabling a Trexity location also disable Local Delivery?” No. Trexity’s location toggle and Shopify’s Local Delivery zones are separate settings. Disable both if you want the location to stop offering delivery entirely.

“Can I have different speeds for Local Delivery per location?” Yes. Each location has its own Local Delivery preference (same-day or next-day).
